The careers of Jean Alesi and Gerhard Berger are closely connected, as they were teammates for five seasons in Formula 1 and both moved from Ferrari to Benetton in 1996. Alesi initially saw Berger’s arrival as a threat, but they developed a good working relationship. They had equal treatment within the team and competed fairly against each other.
